Portfolio Update - June 2021

The month of June 2021 is now behind us.

For the last week in Western Canada, there has been a weather event known as a heat dome.  This is a heat wave that also involves temperatures at night remaining very high.  The hottest place in Canada ever occured in Lytton, British Columbia during this week.  The temperature in this village broke a record from the 1930s and then broke the new record the next day.  After, Lytton then surpassed the most recent record the following day with a temperature of 49.5°C the next day.

COVID19 is still the major topic.  In Alberta, Canada, the entire province removed nearly all the restrictions today including masks.  Today, over 95% of the people I saw today where still wearing mask.  There are still some businesses saying masks are required.

Portfolio Activity

Margin Account Activity

There was no activity in this account during June 2021.  No cash has been added to this account in 2021.  The dividends have remained in the account.

TFSA Activity

I continued to build up cash in this position by paying myself first and keeping the dividends in the account.

On June 28,  I added to my position in Alqonquin Powers and Utilities Corporation.  I added 45 shares of Algonquin at $18.88 per share for a total cost of $854.71 including commissions.  I purchase the shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Currently, Algonquin pays a quarterly dividend of $0.1706 USD.  This purchase adds  $30.71 USD to my annual dividend income.  The dividends will be converted to Canada dollars before hitting my brokerage account.  At the time of this writing,  this is equivalent to $38.19 in Canadian dollars.

Shares Purchased Via DRIP

2 shares of ERF.TO @ 8.6135 for a total cost of $17.23 (Margin Account)

1 unit  of BPF.UN.TO @ $14.14798 for a total cost of $14.15 (TFSA)

Enerplus pays a dividend of $0.033 per share quarterly, or $0.132 per share annually. This drip adds $0.26 CAD to my annual dividend income. The yield on cost for this DRIP is 1.53%

Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund pays a distribution of $0.065 per unit monthly, or $0.78 per unit annually.  This drip adds $0.78 CAD  to my annual dividend income.  The yield on cost for this DRIP is 5.51%.

I have some other positions with the DRIP turned on, but might not have enough of a dividend to purchase a whole share.

My Enbridge position directly with the transfer agent is set up to DRIP.  Around November 2018, Enbridge stopped their DRIP program.  If Enbridge decides to start a DRIP, then my shares will start to DRIP again automatically.

Please note that if some brokerages DRIP shares when there is no DRIP program by the actual company. This DRIP is when the brokerage buys the shares directly off the public market stock exchanges.
