The month of September 2022 is now behind us.The inflation is taking its toll on the economy. The price of food, gasoline, and utilities remain high. The price on carbon adds another layer to this increase. The inflation is also due to cost of shipping as there is a huge backlog of ships at ports that are waiting to be offloaded.
On September 10, 2022, the federal conservative leadership vote took place and Pierre Poilievre won on the first ballot.
During the month of September, 2 major hurricanes caused lots of damage in less than a week. These hurricanes were hurricane Fiona and hurricane Ian. Hurricane Fiona caused widespread power outages in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI and Newfoundland. There was also damage in Atlantic Canada caused by Hurricane Fiona. Currently, Ian has caused severe damage to Florida. It got downgraded from hurricane status and then regained hurricane status before making landfall again in Carolina.
Hurricane Ian has been downgraded again from hurricane status.
On the Pacific coast, a major hurricane is heading towards Mexico.
These severe weather storms affect the economy in lots of ways. One being cargo ships not able to come to port or leave a port, or major roads, bridges and highways being destroyed.
