Portfolio Update - October 2022

The month of October 2022 is now behind us.

The inflation is taking its toll on the economy.  The price of food, gasoline, and utilities remain high.  The price on carbon adds another layer to this increase.  The inflation is also due to cost of shipping as there is a huge backlog of ships at ports that are waiting to be offloaded.

The federal government introduced a bill in the House of Commons that would double GST payments for 6 months.  The bill passed and got passed in the senate.  This first week of November, millions of Canadians received these GST checks.

Currently, COVID19 is affecting China.  This will have an effect on the amount of goods available.
