Portfolio Update - February 2023

The month of February 2023 is now behind us.

Inflation is still affecting the peoples lives.  The supply chain is still be massively effected from shipping issues all around world.  The means there is less supply, which causes prices to rise.

Prices at grocery stores are slowly going up and up.  Due to rise in prices, more and more people are purchasing the store brand or generic brand.  This decreases the supply of these products, which in turn causes price increases.

The interest rates have remained steady in February 2023.  With all the previous interest rate hikes, the effects on slowing the economy will take some time.  The cost of borrowing has drastically increased the cost of living for people who have debt.  Also, the higher interest rate will affect people who renew their mortgages or getting a new mortgage.

The Rogers Communications take over of  Shaw Communications is one step closer to be done.  The company's deadline was February 17.  That day came and gone. The federal government keeps stalling on this merger for various reasons.
